Laser therapy

Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) / photobiomodulation as adjunctive support in pain and soft-tissue care.

01 /Service description

Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT), scientifically referred to as photobiomodulation, is a physiotherapy method utilizing specific wavelengths of light to influence cellular processes. Known as a "cold laser," the aim of the therapy is not to heat the tissue.

Light energy may influence mitochondrial activity and cellular energy production (ATP), so the method is used as adjunctive support for natural tissue-repair processes and the regulation of inflammatory responses.

02 /Indications & benefits

Who it is for.

Who it is for

This therapy is suitable as adjunctive care for patients dealing with acute injuries or chronic pain conditions. It is most commonly indicated for:

  • tendon and ligament inflammation (e.g., tennis elbow, Achilles tendonitis, jumper's knee)
  • acute injuries (sprains, muscle strains, and contusions)
  • degenerative conditions (symptomatic management of joint wear and tear - osteoarthritis)
  • pain syndromes (neck pain, lower back pain, or shoulder discomfort)

Key benefits

Based on its clinical mechanism of action, the therapy supports the body in:

  • inflammatory-response modulation: used as adjunctive support when tissue sensitivity or swelling is present
  • pain management: used as an adjunctive modality for pain-symptom modulation
  • tissue repair support: helping create more favorable conditions for soft-tissue recovery as part of broader rehabilitation
03 /Treatment process

How the treatment works.

The treatment is non-invasive, safe, and typically completely painless.

  • The physiotherapist applies a laser probe to the affected area, either in contact with the skin or held slightly above it.
  • Specific parameters (frequency and energy density) are set based on the diagnosis.
  • The procedure lasts from a few minutes to 15 minutes, depending on the size of the area being treated.
  • Patients usually feel nothing during the therapy other than the touch of the probe. Treatment is generally performed in a series (multiple sessions) to achieve a cumulative effect.
